Four letter books from the period 1809 - 1814 when Campbell was Lieutenant-Governor of Gibraltar at the time of the Peninsula War, containing his correspondence with the Government in England and British interest in Cadiz and Ceuta. The collection also contains letters from Campbells father to him when he was serving in America in 1776, with the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment (Black Watch), a set of personal accounts for the years 1789 - 93 and 57 letters to his wife Polly, 40 of which were sent while on active service in Germany and Holland
