Collection of Manuscript deeds and charters of the Towneley of Towneley family

Two thirds of the archive dates from before 1500 and represents one of the most significant collections of medieval deeds to survive for Lancashire. There is a cartulary of the Edisford leper hospital 1317, an indulgence issued from Boston, printed by Pynson in 1519 and a subsidy roll for Lonsdale Hundred of about 1590
