The accounts ledger of William Hodgkinson of Overton Hall, Ashover, lead merchant, c. 1668-1700. A record of great rarity, whose export was delayed by the Reviewing Committee on the export of Works of Art to enable its purchase by a British institution. It provides detailed evidence of the Derbyshire lead trade at a period when half the national production was coming from this county. The ledger names many suppliers and customers, and its long timespan and wealth of information make it a valuable source for early English industrial history. .
