As well as maps, plans, and factors accounts there are several groups of important correspondence. Letters from the Earl of Mar to Lord Fraser in the years before the 1715 rising, and letters of Simon Fraser, 12th Baron Lovat to some of his Fraser kinsmen. There are also letters from Lt.-General Alexander Mackenzie-Fraser who served in the Egyptian campaign of 1807 and whose correspondents included Mehemet Ali, Lord Castlereagh and Sir John Moore
