Earliest map was drawn by Ambrose Cogger for Sir Robert Wildgoose in 1637, showing the estate iron works and attendant waterways. The next map was drawn in 1750 by Christopher Mason with later maps showing how the estate divided up its land to form the various tenant farms, the boundaries being adjusted over time
