Manuscript journal of two tours made by Bunbury to Rome and to Florence, before he became well known as a caricaturist in London. The etchings published by Bretherton of Bunburys watercolours inspired by his foreign travels are often used today to illustrate the adventures of Grand Tourists and their bear leaders. Gainsboroughs House has built up a collection of Bunburys drawings and engravings that this journal now complements fittingly
