This collection of 35 letters by Bentham had been assumed to be lost. Leicester Stanhope was one of his closest friends and most trusted collaborators during the last decade of Bentham's life. The letters cover a wide rnage of subjects, including the Greek war of Independence, the reform of government in British India and the creation of the "Constitutional Code".
