The Glasgow firm of Templeton/Stoddard was the most important manufacturer of high-quality carpet in the British Empire. Its carpets were to be found in public buildings throughout the world; it carpeted the liners Titanic and Queen Mary, and supplied the carpets for the coronation ceremonies of 1911, 1937 and 1953.
