The letters contain much information, political and social, about England and Ireland in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Thomas Coningsby helped to organise the commissariat of the Army during William IIIs campaign and was Lord Justice 1690-2 along with Sir Charles Porter whose correspondence with C oningsby is an important part of the collection
