Frederick Temple (1821-1902) and William Temple (1881-1944) were the only father and son who were Archbishops of Canterbury, respectively in 1896-1902 and 1942-44. This acquisition complements the Temple papers already held at Lambeth. While they chiefly comprise family papers, there are also papers relating to the Archbishops' careers both before and after their Archiepiscopates.
