Over 800 letters from MacCaig (recipients not listed); they range widely over his life, work and his opinions of the work of other writers. There are also over 140 poems, mostly fair copies sent shortly before publication, but also copies of some verse rejected for publication or subsequently amended; the collection is therefore a rich source of textual information for scholars
