These eight pocket sized engagement diaries belonging to Virginia Woolf record in brief the author’s daily appointments. They directly complement the holdings within the Monks House Papers which were given to the University of Sussex in 1972. Of major significance is the information that they give about her daily life, her social circle and her physical and mental state. Entries include meetings with other contemporary writers, including ‘Morgan’, better known as the novelist E. M. Forster, and ‘Vita’ (the author Vita Sackville-West) as well as visits to Charleston (the home of her artist sister Vanessa Bell) and dates when she would be staying at her Sussex home, Monks House.
