The collection is rich in election material, lieutenancy and militia papers and extensive genealogical papers. Contains the letter book of Sir Philip Wodehouse 1599 - 1608 during which time he was a JP and a leading commissioner of musters

Evidently produced for John Williams, Dean of Westminster and Archbishop of York. The MS contains a sketch of the Deans life and work at Westminster (he refounded the library) and also serves as a primary authority for tombs and monuments added to the Abbey in the first half of the 17th century

The text is particularly valuable for the history of the County in being the only known source for many events. Relates more to political and administrative detail than ecclesiastical events

Wakes library and some papers were bequeathed by him to the College. The present collection of letters includes correspondence with Friedrich Spanheim, Professor of Theology at Leiden on Sociniansim

Approximately 200 deeds, 50 being 13th century, 140 14th century. They shed mu ch light on landholding and land usage in Shropshire
