Comprises accounts for the repair and building work carried out by the Earl of Warwick who was Naval commander for Parliament throughout the Civil War. The house was famous for having the first Orange House in England. This volume complements the Carew family records of Beddington bought with the aid of FONL in 1971 and 1974

270 items, mostly from the first half of the 17th century, relating to the activities of Thomas Smyth landowner and Royalist MP for Bridgwater in the period leading up to the Civil War. Smyth used the backs of these letters sometimes to scribble the gist of speeches in the House by Sir Edward Cooke and Sir Thomas Wentworth, amongst others
