The book was lost from the Parochial Library of Doddington in Kent, formed by Daniel Somerscales, vicar (1694-1737). It is a variant issue from the three recorded in ESTC.

The autograph manuscript of 'Under the North Star' was written by Ted Hughes (1930-98) in 1979 for children and was illustrated by the artist Leonard Baskin. The manuscript consists of 29 pages of autograph text abd illustrations.

This is the manuscript of one of Holst's best-loved songs. The arrangement is scored for voice, two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two horns and strings

The Sforza Hours, a small volume designed for private devotion, is one of the most lavishly illustrated books of the Renaissance. It was illuminated first in Milan around 1490 and later in Ghent after 1504. In all there are 64 full page miniatures and 140 pages with small miniatures and borders.

This is a coherent group of medieval charters from the parishes of Morton and Fiskerton.

The three items purchased are the minute book of the Forncett St.

This is the first printed Christian scripture in Chinese. The Gospels were translated into Chinese by Johannes Lasser and Joshua Marshman. The volume was printed on Chinese paper at Serampore in 1810.

These manuscripts complement the family archives of the Willughbys, Barons Middleton of Wollaton Hall, and particularly to Francis Willughby (1635-72) and John Ray (1627-1705). These letters appear to have been lent by Francis Willughby's daughter to William Derham, but not returned to the family archive.

In 1927, the new diocese of Guildford was carved out of the huge diocese of Winchester. The competition for the design of the new cathedral was won by Sir Edward Maufe. Work began in 1936 and was finally completed in the mid 1960s.

Sir Evelyn Shuckburgh (1909-94) was Principal Private Secretary to Anthony Eden and Under-Secretary in charge of Middle East Affairs at the Foreign Office. His papers include diaries, correspondence and draft chapters of an unpublished memoir and give eyewitness accounts of events during the Suez Crisis and his later reflections on policy.

The major part of the archive relates to the Hill family of Carwythenack and Trenethick, and other records relate to Helston borough, including pre-1834 poor law papers and election material.

The Red Book contains four watercolour sketches with overlays, a ground plan of the estate and drawings for a proposed dairy in the Gothic style, as well as a commentary by Repton on his proposals.

The seven books from the Brontë family's library demonstrate the breadth of the Brontës' interests and abilities.

The 7 letters relate to Lutyens' designs for Crooksbury, near Farnham in Surrey, his first major commission as an independent architect and for a substantial country house for Sir Arthur Chapman. The letters are heavily illustrated with pen and ink architectural drawings and are complemented by three separate water colour designs.

As the residue of the Shelley family archive, the Abinger collection comprises the papers of William Godwin and his wife, Mary Wollstonecraft; incoming letters and other papers of their daughter, Mary Shelley, and of her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley; and further material of their family and circles.

The Cokayne collection is a collection of records concerning the Viscounts Cullen of Rushton and various related families. The collection, which was formed by G. E. Cokayne, Clarenceux King of Arms, consists of over 3,400 documents covering the period 1407-1929.

This collection of Romantic literature comprises some 1,400 books by writers of the Romantic period (1750-1850) including Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats and Shelley. It contains many rarities, both first editions and books in their original boards.

The Macclesfield Psalter is a work of art of exceptional beauty. Its 250 leaves are painted with exquisite finesse, page after page of precious pigments and gold. It is an outstanding example of medieval art from East Anglia, which boasted the most characteristically English school of painting and illumination during the fourteenth century.

The archive documents Professor Hill's activity as an independent photographer, AUTHOR, teacher and lecturer from the 1970s to 2004. It includes photographs, books, periodicals, specialist magazines, catalogues, newscuttings and letters and preserves a record of the creative photography movement which began in the 1970s.

Poole Pottery was established in the 1870s, and the collection includes the business records of the company and a representative series of working patterns from the 1920s to the 1990s.

The strength of this collection of modern illustrated books is in wood-engraved books of the 1920s to 1940s. Illustrators include Blair Hughes-Stanton, John Nash, Paul Nash and Eric Ravilious. The Gregynog Press and Trianon Press are represented in the collection.
